More Berry Picking In South Glastonbury, CT

Well, we ended up back at Belltown Hill Orchards in South Glastonbury, CT yesterday for some more berry picking. We actually intended on picking some peaches and plums, but they weren’t ready until today. We settled on picking some more blueberries. I have to tell you folks, the blueberry season is almost over.

This was our third trip to Belltown this year. It really seems like four, so I think I might be missing one. Each visit offered us nice plump blueberries. This latest visit offered a heck of a lot of berries, but not many of them big and plump. I am guessing that it’s because of the dry weather or this is just what happens towards the end of the season. Either way, the berries were still nice and sweet, it just took longer to fill up our buckets. It you pick berries very much, you’ll understand when I say that patience wears thin when picking small berries.

So, we plan on going back for at least one more visit this year, and that’s to get some peaches and plums. After that, it’s just apples, but we usually go to a place up in Stockbridge, MA for that one. It’s a little tradition we have.
