Can you believe it’s still Winter? Today is March 18th and it’s supposed to be in the mid sixties today. Hey, I’ll take it.
Since there is abundant sunshine and warmth, I figured that I would enjoy a short hike into the woods out back. We live on four and a quarter acres, so much of it is woods. Towards the bottom of the property, we have a hiking trail, a small stream and some wetlands.
My hike only lasted a few minutes. When I got to the bottom of the hill and started taking a few photos, I noticed some young White Pine trees. I am always on the lookout for any type of evergreen because I like to transplant them up towards the front of the property where they will actually get some sunshine and grow. I also plan on planting a whole bunch of Norway Spruce pines once I receive them in the mail at the end of March. Oh don’t worry. I’ll write about that one too.
I found about ten White Pines during my hike. I pulled them up carefully as to not upset the root system too much. I brought them up and planted them in random places in the front and side yards. Hopefully they will take, since they are still somewhat dormant.
Here are a few pictures of my early afternoon hike in late Winter.
