Almost A Jiu Jitsu Blue Belt

I can feel it. I can smell it. I am almost a Jiu Jitsu blue belt.

I just don’t know exactly when it’s going to happen. My instructor likes to surprise us with these things.

I have had four stripes on my white belt for over two months now. I think I am ready to go through the process of getting my blue belt. The only thing I worry about is energy. This is one of those things you have to “last” through. It’s all good, but it takes its toll.

Before the past few classes, I have been filling up on carbs and eating peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. I also drink a little honey before I get there. I don’t know if the class I am walking into is going to be the one. I have to be ready.

Besides worrying about my energy level throughout the process, I am a bit concerned about my elbow. I know I already told you about this, but it hasn’t gotten any better. I got caught in two arm bars tonight and I am sure things are a bit tender in there. You know, you’d be surprised how much you can avoid a certain part of your body while practicing Jiu Jitsu. It doesn’t help you compete with the other guys, but as far as trying to adapt, it’s really not that bad.

Okay, hopefully my next post about Jiu Jitsu here will be one with a photo of a nice shiny new blue belt. Cross your fingers.
