I just did a little Google search on this and here’s what I found (among other things).
It’s a pretty good article written by CNN Money about how the falling dollar has the potential to do some serious damage. Now, this article was written in June of 2006, but it might as well have been written yesterday. I think the facts and suggestions still are very much relevant.
What does the author suggest you do to protect yourself from the falling dollar?
- invest overseas
- invest in small companies that don’t do much business with the U.S.
- buy into emerging markets
- buy U.S. large caps with international exposure
Here are a few more tips I have picked up around the interwebs:
- invest in gold and silver
- invest in commodities
- buy overseas currencies
- buy Treasury Inflation Protected Securities (TIPS)
- buy REITs (Real Estate Investment Trust)
