Cheers To Guinness

I thought I’d kick this blog off with a toast. A toast to one of my favorite things…that would be Guinness. Not the book of world records, but the ever so appetizing beer.

I think the wife and I have said on more than one occasion that we could drink Guinness instead of water. It’s quite medicinal you know.

When I attended college in upstate New York, one of my good friends was a bartender at one of the more popular bars in the “downtown” area. I used to go down and chill with him on the off nights. Many times, it was just the two of us. He would pour the Guinness and I would drink the Guinness. The times were like none other. Sort of reminded me of the bar scene in St. Elmo’s fire. Friends being friends.

I remember there was a picture hanging on the wall behind where I used to sit. It was a picture of a guy pulling a cart with a horse in it. It said, “Guinness For Strength.” Since then, when I drink Guinness, I feel good about myself. I’m not sure I should, but it’s fun.

Okay, here’s one of my dreams. I want to visit the Guinness Storehouse. I want to see how the beer is made, what the history is, whatever. I also want to drink it.

So, with that in mind, Cheers. Cheers to this new blog and cheers to one of my favorite things – Guinness.
